"Hub-and-Spoke" food innovation system for dissemination of food and nutrition technologies and strengthening processing enterprises

"Hub" is a central food technology-based facility housed at a local institution (i.e. National Agriculture Research or university) to serve the functions of R&D, training, and technical support for entrepreneur processors. Spokes are business units that make and sell products: can be women associations or youth groups, principally in rural communities or individual processors in urban areas...

Spokes are business units that make and sell products: can be women associations or youth groups, principally in rural communities or individual processors in urban areas. Spokes are supported by Hubs through R&D/training. They use technologies and innovations developed at the Hub. They also innovate themselves (bring new product concept ideas for R&D at the "Hub")
